I have currently been in the process of working on my final project for this class. I have been recycling glass bottles and jars in order to make my mosaic. I have also been watching instructional videos on learning how to make a mosaic since I've never made on before. I also need to finish buying all of my supplies. Currently what i have done is pealing a lot of the stickers off the jars and cleaning them before i break them.

In the beginning of this week we were paying most of our attention to our books. We had just finished them Monday and what I decided to do with my book was to take the beautiful colorful images of nature and then take the picture of the human and put it in the middle of the book and then have the images of the power plants and end with the image of nature being destroyed. This book overall shows what humans have done in the role of nature. I also included cut outs and some text saying " this is what we have made it..." Anyways i'm currently think about our final project and really the kind of message I want to send with it. I know I wanted to relate it to my book somehow and kind of go off with how nature has been this beautiful thing then man came and all has changed. But I also want to be more specific on something which i'm still trying to figure out.

Ughhhh finally Spring Break this weekend!!!!!!!!!! Anyways, this past week we had a snow day on Monday, so I stayed home in my warm bed and slept. It was wonderful. On Wednesday we basically just talked about cradle to cradle for the most part and first half of class, the second part of class we finished our books. So this week I believe we are writing a proposal for our next project along with 3 images or sketches. I honestly have no clue as of right now what I am going to do, so I have to think about that in the next couple days.

This week we presented our kudzu killer projects, think mine went pretty well for the most part. The comments that I thought were interesting and worth changing were are to so something about the sections that we sticking out of the painting to make it blend in more with the painting rather than it being so obviously noticeable. We are also beginning to work on our little books we made, I have the element carbon so my idea was create things that destroy and are harmful.

Since I destroyed my plant I guess I am just going to talk a little about my project due this Monday. First off the invasive species I found most interesting is the Eichhornia Crassipes, most commonly known as a water orchid. This is an invasive species because what it does is spread rapidly on the top ponds and lakes, suffocating the life underwater as well as blocking waterways. The reason I was so interested in this particular species was because it is such a magnificently gorgeous plant yet it is a killer and causes harm to so many other species. For my final piece, I decided to do a painting of these beautiful water orchids. The reason I chose to do a painting is because I think paintings really would bring out the beauty in these plants. On the back of the painting I wanted to show kind of what the result of these plants do, so on the front there's going to be the beautiful plant and on the back will be these dead morbid plants, really juxtaposing the two. I want to have it hanging up in the room so that when people walk in they only see the beauty of the plant and unexpectedly as walk around the room they will notice the dead plants that the orchids kill.

So, unfortunately the unthinkable happened. Exactly what I said wouldn't happen, happened. Yes, my plant was destroyed. What supposably had happened was that when I was out running errands with my dad, my mother and little sisters where at the house. My sisters I guess were playing house in my bedroom and accidentally knocked over my plant and ruined the whole thing. I come home to find my plant completely trashed in the garbage can. Great! Now all I'm trying to figure out is what i"m going to write for remainder of the semester.

This week in attempting to take care of my plant, I left it on my night stand under my lamp. I leave the lamp on basically whenever I need it because the spider plant does not require much sunlight. However, it cannot stand in cold areas so that is why it is away from any windows. I only water it once every few days. I have not put it in its vessel yet but plan on doing that in a couple days. I plan on placing the plant in a champaign glass. I have noticed a slight change in my plant over the past week. When I first got it, the leaves seemed dead and drooping over the sides. Now, it has become a little taller and is standing up straight.
